Sometimes life just isn't fair. But it may not be what you think. It is true that people, especially children, sometimes form an opinion about themselves that is based in error. If a child has difficulty in school and can't keep up academically, they may think they are stupid. That is not an opinion based in fact. Unfortunately, due to a number of varying factors in today's society, many people have somehow fallen through the educational cracks and find themselves in a situation where they are unable to compete academically. This is true regardless of race, color, socioeconomic background and many other factors. This statement is based on empirical research. (Visit our website for more information.) They may base their self opinion on circumstances that are totally beyond their own control. Or they may have come to the conclusion that there is no hope for them and they may as well just give up. We can help reverse that situation.
ABC-Learn, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) community service non-profit corporation. The organization was incorporated on September 19, 1996 with its non-profit status in the categories of education and cultural awareness.
The Mission of ABC-Learn, Inc. is to take actions that will have a positive effect on society as a whole by aiding the individual. Our Goal is to have literate, productive members of society who recognize their value as a member of the whole and who are able to achieve their individual goals in a manner that is beneficial to all. Our Motto: Dedicated to those we serve.
We have worked with youth through both the public and private school systems as well as working with at-risk youth through various governmental agencies. We have witnessed a marked rise in the intellectual capital of those persons we have served. This has transferred into increased self-esteem and a willingness to engage in new and challenging endeavors.
ABC-Learn is a proud State Approved Provider of Supplemental Educational Services under No Child Left Behind since its inception in the state of California. We have helped thousands of students increase their academic skills and thus their scores. Our documented results have shown that on average for every hour spent in our program our students increase their academic skills by 1% point. Thus, 15 hours of services typically renders a 15% increase in academic skills.
At the start of a student's program, we will assess the academic needs of the student utilizing California standards based assessments and develop a program specifically designed for the individual student. The interests of the student are taken into consideration as the program is designed. We reassess the student's progress every 15 hours to determine whether any adjustment is required to meet the goals that have been set. Students become an active participant in their academic development. Long term and short term goal planning is incorporated into their academic advances. They begin to see themselves as capable and successful as their individual accomplishments begin to increase. The more they know and understand, the easier it becomes and life begins to seem fairer.
All of our tutors are fully trained, background checked by the California Department of Justice as well as the FBI. All must present a clear TB every two years. All are more than just individuals who impart knowledge; they help the student see and understand their own capabilities. When we do our job right, no one ever knows the student required our help.
Our services can be utilized from kindergarten through adult. We have served English Language Learners and students with special needs. We provide in-home services or we can meet at the local library. Your program is designed for you and to meet your specific needs.
Our program is also suitable for home school support.
